Daniel Matoušek comes from Ústí nad Labem. In the beginning he worked on his singing technique with Jan Vacík, Antonio Carangelo, Eva Randová and Jarmila Chaloupková. Currently he is under the guidance of Kateřina Kněžíková and Adam Plachetka.

In 2014 he performed for the first time at the National Theatre Prague in The Cunning Little Vixen and from the 2022/23 season he has been a member of the company. At the National Theatre and all three of its stages: the National Theatre, the State Opera and the Estates Theatre, he makes his debut in the 24/25 season as Nemorino in The Elixir of Love, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and in the premiere of Puccini's Manon Lescaut. He has also appeared in major roles in the tenor repertoire such as Rinuccio, Tamino, Tybalt (Gounod), Dalland's The Helmsman, Beppe (Pagliacci), etc.

In the course of his professional activity he has successively guested on all Czech opera stages. Nowadays, he is mainly a guest at the National Theatre in Brno in the roles of Mazal/Blankytný/Petřík (premiere 2024 - Robert Carsen), Ferrando, Tamino, Nemorino, Fenton (dernière spring 24) and the upcoming debut of Puccini's Rodolfo.

In addition to the Czech opera scene, he has appeared as a guest at several German and Italian open air festivals (e.g. Opera Classica Europa) and at the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava (Maria Stuarda, Persian Nights) and the National Theatre Košice (The Magic Flute).

he participated in the iSING Festival in China in 2019, where he was selected from 2500 singers from all over the world. He participated in the Hollywood production of the upcoming film - The Crow directed by Rupert Sanders ( Premiere August 2024). In September 2024 his debut album titled O sole mio will be released - an album of Italian and Neapolitan songs in his own symphonic arrangement and with the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Jan Kučera.

He has performed under the baton of conductors such as Marco Guidarini, Ondrej Lenárd, Christopher Ward, Kamal Khan, Robert Jindra, Andrij Jurkevyč, Vincenzo Milletari, Jiří Rožeň, Alena hron, Leoš Svárovský, Jan Kučera, Adi Bara, Marko Ivanović, Miriam Němcová, Ondrej Olos, David Švec, Marek Šedivý and others.

He has collaborated with leading orchestral ensembles and has performed at music festivals such as Festival Český Krumlov, Smetanova Litomyšl, Janáček Festival Brno, Špilberk Festival, Wiesbaden Opera Europa Festival (DE), Cornuda Belcanto Festival (IT) and others.

During his professional career he has collaborated with directors such as Ondřej Havelka, David Radok, Andreas Homoki, Robert Carsen, Miroslav Krobot, Barbora Horáková Joly and others. He has performed with distinguished singing colleagues such as Dagmar Pecková, mariusz kwieczen, zuzana marková, Kateřina Kněžíková, Adam Plachetka, Atalan Ayan, Konu Kim, Hao Jiang Tian, Damiano Salerno, José Luis Maldonado, Luis Cansino, and others.
